iMac G4／1．0 GHz 17’ Flat Panel upgrade with 120 GB 2．5’ sata 5400 rpm hdd with SATA to IDE adapter and upgrade internall ram with KINGSTON 1GB DDR 266MHz PC2100 CL2．5． Second ram module is on the bottom． These models have one factory installed memory module in a 184-pin DIMM slot (the difficult to access top slot) and one 200-pin user-accessible SO-DIMM slot (the easy to access bottom slot)． Max capacity is 2 GB (1GB internal and 1GB at the bottom of this iMac)． I have 1GB internal on motherboard and 512MB on the bottom． To put 2．5’ hdd to iMac g4 you must bore a hole to original case to snap it． Max PATA theoretical speed in iMac G4 is 100MB／s 2．5’ 5400rpm SATA HDD max speed is 160 MB／s original 80 GB Intel 7400rpm in iMac G4 has speed 40 MB／s so paradoxly slower rpm on new 2．5’ HDD will increase hdd speed after replacing to max PATA speed so is not necessary replacing it with new 7400 rpm HDD． I will choice 2．5’ because is much more quietly such as 7400 rpm SATA and has less heating too． Hardest part was get out dvd case as you can see on video． Dont forget put some drops of kitchen oil to fan cooler it will be much more quietly then． On video you can see demounting iMac G4 twice because i forget put some part to iMac at first time ．．． ：) After upgrade ram from 768 MB to 15 GB and HDD from 80 GB (40MB／s) to 120 GB (100 MB／s=max PATA) working on iMac G4 is 2-3x faster browsing with safari is great and multitask is usable too fullscreen divx playing is very speedy b．．．／b
