This game was developed for the original Game Boy. It was released in Japan in July 1996 and in the US in February 1997. It is a fantastic example of a ’logic puzzle’ game. It has some similarity to the Japanese game ’Sokoban’ or a US translation called ’Rush Hour’ sold by the toy company Think Fun. It also comes close to The Learning Company’s ’Logical Journey of the Zoombinis’ CD-ROM title. Mole Mania is made up of 8 different levels each more challenging than the previous level. Each level has many smaller logic puzzles or mini-games to be solved. These screens have a start and an end point each containing a number of obstacles that need to be move removed used in some way or altered. The main character of this game a mole named Muddy can also tunnel underground to navigate around some obstacles but the answer is not always clear how best to navigate above and below ground to solve any puzzle. This Game Boy title has so much thought behind it. It’s a timeless game and remains one of my all-time favorites. This video shows the set-up story a number of the first level mini-games and completion of the first level.
