Original Air Date: April 11th 2009 Xak is a pretty cool game in a similar style to that of Ys or Zelda. It has some really great music as well. Only thing I don’t like is the game can be unnaturally hard in some spots but the ability to save almost anywhere greatly helps the matter. There is a great fan site know as XyZ (miraigamer) that can go into much better detail about this game. It’s a unique site that covers the Xak Ys and Zelda series. Enjoy. www.miraigamer.net

There isn’t much MSX2 Xak music here so I thought I’d upload some of my favorite songs. The screenshots are from the Oasis translation and mostly unrelated to the tracks. Playing this version gave me a somewhat skewed perception of the Xak world which is reflected in the made up track names. 0:00 - The Field of Visual Grass 1:12 - The Cliff of Fort Stage 2:16 - Water Dragon Dive 3:30 - Hyoryu Enryu 4:41 - Change Dragon! (Never Fear Reptiles) 6:45 - The Happening Horror 7:50 - Waving Goodbye

Original Air Date: April 05th 2008 (Expanded today! Originally an opening now expanded with a HQ intro introduction and gameplay!) Riglord Saga 2 is the sequel to Riglord Saga...hmm? You don’t know what Riglord Saga is? Of course you do...At least you may know unknowingly. Riglord Saga was released in North America under the names of Mystaria: Realms of Lore and Blazing Heroes. However the sequel to Mystaria/BH was never released in North America...which is a shame because it is by and large one of the best (if not the best) SRPGs released for the Sega Saturn even despite how old it is. The RS games were developed by Micro Cabin a company that has some pretty interesting roots and has dabbled in various semi-popular games and concepts...though they are a largely obscure and under-appreciated company. Remember Guardian War for the 3DO back in 1994? What??? You DON’T!? Actually I’m not surprised. Even one of their most popular games ’Xak’ are only really known by hardcore North American importers and a small but faithful Japanese audience. However anyone who knows about Xak might tell you that they felt it was an ’Ys Killer’. I’m not sure if I feel the same but Xak: The Art of Visual Stage (The Super Famicom game) was certainly better than most of the SFC Ys games that I’ve played. The fascinating thing about RS and Micro Cabin’s mid nineties SRPGs in general is that they were in many accounts way ahead of their time. RS2 was made in 1996 and is still one of b.../b

This video was originally hosted by another Youtube user who has a deleted account. I was going to work with him to get more game footage but I lost contact with him when his account was deactivated. It was a shame to see this video disappear so I’m uploading it from a mirror site. There were other videos so if you’re out there and you have these downloaded let me know and I can host them. I’m a Super Famicom import enthusiast. Check out my Anime Super Famicom Web Resource Center at stevethefish.net/superfamicom.
