Double Dragon was ported to the Nintendo Entertainment System by Technos Japan in 1988. The game was published in North America by Tradewest (who was given the license to produce other home versions of the game as well) and by Nintendo in Europe. The NES version of Double Dragon was released for the Wii’s Virtual Console service in Europe on April 25 2008 and in North America on April 28 2008. The most notable difference the NES version has from the arcade game is the omission of the arcade’s two players cooperative game mode. Instead the two-players mode in the main game (’Mode A’) is done by alternating although both players take control of Billy. In this version Jimmy Lee (the Player 2 character in the arcade version) serves as the main antagonist. After defeating Willy the original final boss from the arcade game Jimmy will appear before the player for the true final battle. Due to technical limitations of the NES that were not worked around the game can only generate two enemies on-screen to confront the player and both enemies are the same character. Additionally weapons cannot be brought to the next fight if the original enemy carrying it is defeated. A level-up system was also implemented. The player begins the game with only the basic punches and kicks available to their character gaining the more powerful ones after acquiring the experience points needed to use them. The player has a total of seven skill levels that they can achieve throughout the game b.../b

Thanks to macromi for the introduction. Also Santora2007 is right when he says Double Dragon is a game you’ll never get tired of playing. ☆☆Excellent to passable Double Dragon games I SeventhSun had tried at my pleasure that YOU should also try: ☆Double Dragon Advance (Game Boy Advance - everything from the Double Dragon games thrown inside and more - a #1 must have!!) ☆Double Dragon II NES (excellent story and music but ugly animation of the Dragons - starring the Kneebreaker!!) ★Double Dragon III NES (pretty good story and stage music but very hard) ☆Double Dragon Game Boy (basic goodness that exceeds the NES version though the manuals for both are garbage) ☆Double Dragon II (Game Boy - excellent story and fun game but few pits and uppercut is a little overpowered) ★Double Dragon III (Game Boy - sadist few pits and crap action but grudgingly passable because the on-it music dominates and the story is pretty good) ★Double Dragon (Sega Genesis - controversial reintroduction of the first game but with stupid enemies and lots of pits that makes it quite endearing) ★Battletoads Double Dragon (NES - very sadistic and challenging - I am honored to be able to beat this hard game on my uncle’s console long ago without using any cheats) Double Dragon and Golden Axe then Bare Knuckle I like because of the pitfall factor (I find the actual fighting to be very boring honestly - there are times I almost started falling asleep until when I saw a cliff pit or river b.../b

Final Mission Like the NES version it has a shitty ending policy based on difficulty. I played the whole game on easy mode just so y’all can get an idea of what the PCE CD version is like. Until I really get some practice don’t expect to see the Shadow Master nor the ending.
