SHOUEI SYSTEM 相原製作所 相原コージ 任天堂 Nintendo Super Famicom
Some random gameplay footage from the brilliant yet incredibly obscure Super Famicom RPG Idea no Hi (Day of the Idea). The game has some interesting mechanics such as it’s unique equipment system where articles of clothing take the place of armor. The game has a modern setting with (mostly) real world locations but it seems to take place after an apocalypse but doesn’t really have a dsytopian setting either. In this video the group started out in Los Angeles learning how to get past the broken bridge near Chicago so that they can make their way to Manhattan Tower where Judd has run off to. Looks like I have a bit of leveling to do the grenade enemies are quite a pain. And yes I had an unlimited money cheat on mainly to help with buying the clothing which consists of me buying every type at the store and trying it on each character because there is no way for me to know (without knowing Japanese) what kind of clothing it is since all it displays is it’s name and what stats it increases. For more info on the game you can read this blog post about it! (I didn’t write it) retrojrpg.thefannish.org
Idea no Hi Day of the Idea
More random gameplay from Day of the Idea a very obscure Super Famicom RPG. I was going to show the clothing system in action but the only item that I could get would have added quite a bit of time and I was worried about the going past the 15 minute mark but looking back I probably could have gotten it. In this game for every new character you get in the party (with the exception of Mikoto and Tom-Tom) there is a short sequence of playing as that new character not long before they join the party. So in this video I had to play as the character Dr. Poe who is accompanied by the robot NPC UTR-7X. They were taken to the Eastern Mountains in South America to look for the remains of a crashed meteorite and have to use a detector to find it (hence the annoying beeping sounds) only to find that dog ate it and then end up in the town of Sanchago after falling off the mountains. Quite often in battle UTR-7X is worthless due to him not doing anything useful/not the desired action but can be helpful when he ACTUALLY DOES SOMETHING...

I did it I finally made it to the end of this game. And I have to say that it wasn’t as bad as I initially thought it was it started to grow on me near the end. I guess this could be considered spoilers but lets be honest who cares? Like much of the game the final boss wasn’t very challenging. I mean my God the Past Life Skills have some serious balancing issues. Ul Ul Boy’s Field Barrier basically makes the party invincible El can make the party incredibly strong with her Double Power skill Mitchie can fully heal the entire party and revive people and all of Corum’s skills are useless. One last thing what was with Makamaka’s final form only having 1 HP (not a typo!)? Was that the point? Or was it just another bug in the game?

Here are some more tracks to my favorite RPG made on the SNES. Please enjoy them. I am now taking requests. Feel free to tell me which game you want and I will upload the music to it as long as it is not a Mario game or a game made by a Non-Japanese developer.
