Namco and Soft Machine’s Final Lap 2000 is basically Final Lap with new modes and BW Formula One cars and Final Lap was basically Pole Position with a fresh coat of paint. Final Lap is a classic game in its own right but honestly this game should’ve been better than it is. The game doesn’t play as well as classic Final Lap lacks the creative gameplay additions of titles like Final Lap Twin and is basically the same game from the mid-late 80s made over ten years later and adapted for the WonderSwan with minor additions. It does possess a great sense of speed for a WS driving game and is so old-school that hardcore fans of the original Final Lap may perhaps feel nostalgic playing this game but you wouldn’t be missing out either way. The game features the ability to make your own tracks race in the same fashion as you would in the Arcade (against the clock) as well as in a championship mode where you go stage by stage Time Trial Mode and the ability to view the action from cars behind you but the game just isn’t very exciting. This is a video of some of the game in action. While Japan-Only the game is English-Friendly. Enjoy.
